LOCATION
The Perfect Location to Combine Porto City Life and Surfing
The Surf Lodge is located in one of Porto’s trendiest neighborhoods – Bomfim. This laid-back and authentic part of the city lies off the typical tourist trail, yet it's still just a short distance from the historic center and all its highlights. And the surf beaches? They’re within easy reach too – our surf vans take you to some of the region’s best spots every day in just 20 to 40 minutes.
Bonfim is a vibrant neighborhood that draws both locals and travelers with its cozy cafés, craft beer pubs, excellent restaurants, art galleries, and unique shops – perfectly reflecting Porto’s creative and cultural spirit. The area blends traditional Portuguese architecture with modern buildings and elegant villas along wide, tree-lined avenues.
It’s also well connected: the nearest metro station is just 700 meters away (only three stops to the historical center), a bus stop is 100 meters from the Surf Lodge, and an Uber ride downtown takes less than 10 minutes and costs around 5 EUR.

Step outside to a spacious terrace with plenty of seating, surrounded by a natural Mediterranean garden. It’s a great spot to enjoy a relaxed breakfast, find a quiet corner, or join in one of our regular communal dinners. And of course, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house and garden.

The right room for every kind of trip: Whether it’s a snug single or double room with a shared bathroom (shared with a maximum of four people), a double room with a private bathroom, or a en-suite family room for 3 to 6 guests - you’ll find just the right fit. In every room, you can choose between single beds or a double bed, whichever suits you best.
BREAKFAST
Wake Up to a Handcrafted Breakfast
Every morning, a lovingly prepared breakfast buffet with carefully selected ingredients awaits you. Enjoy a colorful variety of healthy fruits and vegetables, sweet treats, and savory classics to start your day perfectly. Choose from different types of bread, croissants, cakes, butter, cream cheese, sausage, cheese, and jams, as well as a selection of muesli, yogurt, and fresh fruit salad. Milk, coffee, tea, water, and orange juice are also available.
On surf course days, you’ll receive a packed lunch with a sandwich, energy bar, and drink to keep you energized. Fresh water, tea, coffee, and fruit are available free from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

At lunchtime and in the evening, Porto invites you to explore a vibrant and diverse food scene that beautifully blends tradition with modern flair. Enjoy authentic Portuguese specialties at lively markets and cozy restaurants, while contemporary eateries offer creative twists on regional cuisine. Bistros, takeaways, and food courts also provide plenty of options to experience Porto’s culinary variety in different ways.
Our communal dinners at the Surf Lodge are also a real highlight. Our chef prepares delicious Portuguese and Brazilian dishes - perfect for a relaxed evening of good food and sharing stories about the day’s adventures.
SURF COURSES
Surf Experience in Northern Portugal
At the Surf Lodge, we offer surf lessons seven days a week, suitable for all ages and skill levels. All lessons are conducted in English by experienced, certified instructors.
Depending on the tides and waves, you’ll either enjoy two 1.5-hour surf sessions or one extended 3-hour session each day. Start times are flexible and adjusted to the conditions. Each morning, your coach selects the best beach for the day—whether that’s Porto’s city beach or a spot further north or south.
We provide professional, up-to-date training equipment. Absolute beginners use 8’0–9’0 softboards, while more experienced surfers progress to smaller softboards or hardboards (6’4–7’6). All participants receive a warm 4/3 wetsuit.
Unless otherwise specified at booking, the first day of surfing will be the day after arrival.
ARRIVAL
Only 15 km from Porto Airport
The destination airport is Porto (OPO). From Northern and Central Europe you will find numerous airlines regularly flying to Porto. These include EasyJet, Eurowings, Lufthansa, Ryanair, TAP, Transavia, Vueling and Wizz.
Taxi or Uber
The most convenient and direct option - you’ll be dropped off right at the Surf Lodge's front door:

Public Transport
The metro provides an easy and affordable connection from the airport to the Surf Lodge:
1. Take Metro Line E (purple line) from the airport towards Trindade. The ride takes about 25 minutes. 2. At Trindade, transfer to Line D (yellow line) in the direction of Hospital São João. 3. Get off after three stops at Combatentes. 4. Exit the station in the direction of of Igreja das Antas. 5. When you reach a modern church, turn right into R. de Naulila. 6. After around 100 meters, you’ll find the Surf Lodge on the right-hand side.
Rental Car
If you'd like more flexibility during your stay, you can also rent a car directly at the airport. Especially in the off-season, rental cars in Portugal are often very affordable. Free parking is available right in front of the lodge.
Tip
Porto’s main train station (Estação de Campanhã) is just 1.5 kilometers from the Surf Lodge - ideal if you're arriving by train from Lisbon.
